The Roman Empire inspired the Emilia pot with its iconic string that sits delicately on the upper edge of this tall, thin pot. Since the 1800s, the Italian city of Modena in the region of Emilia-Romagna in Italy has been renowned for the production of this type of decorative rope for various decorative purposes.
